I felt like I was in a bar in Mexico! The juke box had tradional music, the bar stocked with beer, and tacos pouring out ofvtge kitchen. The bar tender was quick and helpful when ordering. The combination quasadia was freaking fantastic. The shrip tacos were sadly very boring and nothing I would order again. The margarita was tasty but the queso was flavorless. Think outside the box here qnd try new things here most likely they won't disappoint you!

Excellent tacos and horchata! This is the only place I have been able to find horchata!!! The waitress was very polite, helpful and super sweet. We had fish and shrimp taco platters (3 tacos each, rice and beans) @ under $12. We also ordered the barbacoe taco (lamb) special for $3. Food took about 10-15min from ordering to arrival. The tacos are served on double mini corn tortillas just like you would get in Mexico, Central American etc. Tasted just as good and fresh. The fish was salted and pan fried, flaky and not fishy. The shrimps were small but abundant and lightly pan fried. The lamb was ok, a little on dry side but tasty. The tacos comes with onions and cilantro. You can get without onions but you can scrape them off easily. Not drenched in sauces or anything pretty or creative artsy stuff. Just kept simple. There is the standard 3 part sauces: red chili, cilantro-lime-chili, and chopped jalapeños mix. We were not given any chips/salsa. The jukebox was playing Latin music. The ambiance is that of a bar, square wooden tables & chairs separated by a wall from the bar area. There is a private parking lot right off Rt 40 near the car dealerships. The bathrooms are singular sets for male and female, and clean. Overall, I will be making this my go-to for tacos and horchata and maybe try out the other items on the menu. IMO, best tacos for price in the HoCo area so far (I've tried El Hidalgo, R&R tacqueria, & any taco places I happen to drive by along rt 1). The only other place that had impressive tacos was Johnny Sanchez in the Horseshoe casino but that comes at a helfy $18-20 price tag and forced upgraded attire for all the added fluff. Here, you can go in and it's super laid back and casual. It is dine in and carry out. Full bar. I would recommend if you love tacos made the Mexican way :)

Definitely a great restaurant with delicious Mexican and Peruvian food and great service. Just visited during happy hour this week and they have great daily specials on food and drinks. $3 Margaritas, $2.50 Tacos and $3.00 Imported Specialty Beers!! Ask for Chris who is top notch in his customer service! You never have to ask for anything! I definitely will be returning again.

Excellent and very authentic Mexican, Peruvian and Central American food. We've been here about 6 times in the past few months and it is always excellent. Cannot recommend it highly enough and consider it to be the best Latin American food in Ellicott City by a fairly wide margin. You won't be disappointed.

Friendly staff, unreal food. The tacos I had were amazing, soaked with flavor that you want to hang out. Keep chewing. I had no idea you could find legit, savory, tacos like this anywhere near Ellicott City/Columbia. This is good food for your body and soul.

After reading all the rave reviews, I tried this place with great expectations. Before I could even get to the food, the bartender poured me this margarita that tasted like koolaid. I could barely taste the alcohol. Had a corona and then I left. Wanted to try the food but if a Mexican spot can't pour a good margarita, it kinda makes me a little sketchy about trying your food. Meh!

Where else in Maryland can you order three amazing tacos and a Dogfish Head for $10.50? And get free salsa and chips while you wait, and never wait for a table, and get three different home-made sauces to put on your food? Nowhere but Pollo Feliz! The tacos are awesome, the half-chicken dinner is excellent and the prices are unbelievable. Yes, it's very plain inside. So what, there are a hundred places where you can spend an extra $10 per meal for better ambiance. I go to those places also. Considering the food quality for the dollar how this place isn't packed every night I will never understand.

This is a cute little place. The seating is nothing fancy, but the decor is interesting. The service was very good - the two employees I spoke with were very friendly. My tacos came out pretty quickly. The free salsa was very thin and spicy, a nice treat... And the chips that came with it were nice and crispy. Overall a good experience and I'd go back more often if it wasn't so far away.

Well, this place is just like Tere's market since its own by the same owner. I've been there quite a few times when seeking for gooood tacos and spanish food. Great staffs that are very friendly and helpful. Occasional Latin music playing on the juke box they have can't hurt. Their Tacos are surreal. Starting with regular pork, you can end up getting intestines if you want to. I mean just check their menu out.

A great place to find good food. The restaurant has the look and feel of a taqueria and the menu has a Peruvian side and a Mexican side. I went with tacos (steak and chicken) which were fantastic and tried my wife's Peruvian chicken which was awesome. They have a full bar and really nice people that work there.

  • Chris S.

I don't know why all the bad reviews, we've been here twice and it was really good both times. The tacos are great, the tostadas crispy and delicious, and the Peruvian chicken--so yummy! The service was great both times and the drinks potent and good.

I ordered 2 carnitas tacos this time and I ordered the cheese pupusa again. I still love the pupusa and the tacos were good. I like the trio of condiments they bring out for the tacos. I used the green sauce and the lime juice on mine.

Tacos are wonderful and old school: it is all about the meats. We had al pastor, lengua, chorizo. Fabulous taste, served on double soft corn tortillas country mexican style. Hot red sauce and green sauces at the table were excellent. Served with lime slices, sliced radish and cucumber. Pupusa was thin and light with nice pickled cabbage and streak of hot sauce. Pinto beans were very tasty. Next we will try the chicken and more. Highly recommended if you like home style authentic food in a non fussy but very clean place. Service was fine. Can't wait to go back.

Did not like the peruvian chicken and will return to driving further to find good peruvian chicken. However the rest of the food was passable, with a very nice a la carte mexican menu (tacos, tortas, etc). If you are looking for mexican I would recommend this towards the more americanized places close by.

Had a very nice meal with my family at this eclectic Latin American restaurant. Its offered on the menu included Peruvian, Salvadoran, and Mexican dishes. The Mexican dishes which we tried which included a chicken mole, carne asada, guacamole, and a beef taco were all well- prepared and served in a timely manner by a friendly and courteous server. I would highly recommend Pollo Feliz & Taqueria as a fun informal spot to enjoy some delicious Latin American food.

I wanted to like this place due to its proximity to my apartment but I just can't do it, captain. I ordered a meal to go (chicken enchiladas in homemade mole); meh, it was ok, nothing spectacular.

I invited my wife and a couple friends here for an after-work dinner in an attempt to find a new place to eat without an Asian theme to it. Since my wife is a vegetarian and from the West Coast (both at the same time, yikes) we choose Mexican as a pretty safe bet. I really liked the food. The chorizo tacos were crispy and not dripping with grease, the hen tamale was positively silky in my mouth and perfectly savory, and the cheese pupusa...its hot cheese and bread, how could I not love it? They also had a fabulous guacamole and freshly made tortilla chips, mmm. However, as much as I loved the food, I can only in good conscious give them three stars. We had a waitress who was painfully new and not very good with English, which created a double whammy of issues. Being a waitress is hard, especially when dealing with a table speaking a language you struggle with, and I understand that completely and sympathize. With that in mind, there are some things that are a matter of proper training that language doesn't play into: ~Make sure your table has napkins and silverware ~Don't slam food on the table ~If someone orders an appetizer, make sure it actually comes to the table ~Have at least a working knowledge of your menu. If someone points to an item, and the item is written in your first language, but you spend 5 minutes staring at the item in confusion, there's a problem. ~If a table wants to split a check at the end of a meal, and you take the time to carefully write down what items go on what check, it should not take you a half hour and three attempts (with assistance from another staff member) to get it done. (Note I didn't say that we pointed out things that were wrong. There were still mistakes on the final bill but one of my friends was so frustrated that she paid the extra money just so we could leave.) The question of whether we didn't receive good service because we weren't regulars came up on the way home, and I did (and still do) disagree entirely with that. I can tell when someone still has their training wheels on, and despite her many mistakes she was friendly and obviously trying. Other staff came to help her bring our entrees, stopped her when she brought me the wrong pupusa, and stopped by often to check on us and bring refills. The manager was especially kind: when my wife discovered that the enchiladas she ordered were spicier than her stomach could take that night, he was kind enough to allow her to exchange them for two corn tamales (which are heavenly, btw. I kinda want some right now as I type) and didn't charge extra. And there was another waitress bustling around with three other tables who had an aura of experience that couldn't be faked; when our food came and she spotted no napkins or silverware on the table she immediately rushed to get us some without our having to ask. Bottom line: Order carryout here and I'm sure you'll be very pleased.

Awesome Mexican food and prices! They have great guacamole. The flautas are one of my favorites. I tried the Cubana Torta tonight and it is pretty darn awesome.

The reason for the two stars is not because of the food but the food and service. It is not for the atmosphere because this is my first visit and had no expectations. I had high hopes for this place because we use to frequent the taqueria when it was in the market. Food was always seasoned well and I had no complaints after 10+ trips. For the new place, if you have children 3 and under, it is not a good place for dinner. They blast music from their boom box to the point that the waitress and I had to lean in so we could hear each other to order the food. The general vibe of this place is more of a bar scene. They really were focused with people at the bar vs the tables. I kind of got the feeling we really weren't welcomed there... they were letting us know it was not a place for families really. Point taken. The food came out. My pork was crazy salty and the beef was really tough and seasoned weird. NOTHING like when they were in Teres Market. Everything was subpar. Disappointing, we figured the restaurant would be an opportunity to have larger parties and expand their menus vs the opportunity to make money selling alcohol and paying for music from a boom box. Shortly after the food came out, an older lady (whom I assume is management or owner) came out and asked if I was done with the condiments tray in an abrupt manner. I told her no so she proceeded to go back into the kitchen and grab another one for her table. That was annoying. I guess it was annoying for her too. The waitress was nice however and checked on us periodically. So the restaurant is a lose-lose situation. Mediocre food and a bar to cheapen the overall vibe of the neighborhood.

After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place on my way home from work. Walking in, the place seemed nice, clean, and well maintained. Then it all went downhill. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and there were a total of 5 ppl in the place. The bartender/waitress looked up at me, and then continued to play candy crush for another 2 minutes before coming over to me. I ordered a margarita, and was looking forward to it as she made it with fresh squeezed lime juice. But sadly, it was a watered down version of a chain restaurant margarita. The tacos I ordered were greasy and tasteless. The beans salty and watery. The rice dry. If you want an authentic Mexican meal, drive 5 minutes further to El Agave on Rt 40. As much as it pains me to say this, as I'm a fan of the mom and pop restaurants, even On The Border in Columbia is a better overall experience.

We will be back! The staff was very friendly attentive but also gave us some space. The tacos were delicious and the salsa and sauces had a great flavor. Can't wait to go back and keep trying different dishes! I will say the juke box was a little loud.

The only reason this place doesn't have 5 stars is environment based. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, sort of a crossover between american sports bar and mexican hang out place with mexican hip hop blaring on the jukebox. That being said, the food was fantastic, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive and for the quality you get, cheeeeeeeeeeap as hell (meaning the price not the quality). They have al la carte options so I got a taco, a tamale and the enchiladas with a soft drink and my meal came out to about 15 bucks. 15 BUCKS for all of that! I pay 10 if I want a burrito with guac from chipotle. This place has fresh, hand made ingredients and fresh guac and salsa on the side of their burritos. The taco was small, but packed with chicken. The enchiladas were sinfully spicy but so good. I had read that their chicken was a little over cooked and it was but frankly, I kind of like that. I'd rather have it a little over cooked than end up slumped over the toilet all night. Everything was flavorful, portions were perfect and dat wait staff though. We were checked out multiple times, taken care of well and wished a well evening on the way out. Again, 2 hungry dudes with multiple dishes dropping only 30 bucks (before tip) between them was pretty incredible. I'll be going back again.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
